This page explains how to permanently delete your Welvite account and all of the data associated with it, exactly what is removed, and the little that is not. Deletion is free, needs no reason, and is available to every user from inside the app.

Deletion is immediate and permanent. Every invitation page you published stops working the moment you confirm, with no grace period and no way back. If you only want one page gone, take that page down instead (below) and keep your account.

Method 1 — In the app (recommended, about ten seconds)

  1. Open Welvite and tap the settings (gear) icon at the top of My invitations.
  2. If Account shows Sign in (for example after reinstalling the app), first sign in the same way you did before: Google, phone number or email. Delete account then appears under Account.
  3. Tap Delete account.
  4. Read the confirmation and confirm. The deletion runs on our servers at once and the app returns to its first screen.

If you have never signed in (you only made drafts), there is no account on our servers: the drafts live on your phone alone and uninstalling the app removes them. You can also delete a draft from My invitations.

Taking one page down instead

Open My invitations, tap the menu on the card and choose Take the page down. Within seconds the link answers “this page has been removed” (HTTP 410), the photos are deleted from our storage and from the content network, and every guest reply to that page is deleted. The invitation’s text stays in your account, hidden from the list, until you delete your account. Your other invitations are untouched.

A draft that was never published is deleted completely: the card menu offers Delete draft, which removes it from your phone and from our database.

Method 2 — By email (if you cannot open the app)

Lost the phone, already uninstalled, or the app will not start? Email us instead:

To: support@welvite.com
Subject: Welvite account deletion request
From: the email address you sign in with (Google or email sign-in); this is how we verify the request is yours
Include: nothing else. You do not need to give a reason, and we will never ask for identity documents or a password.

Signed in with a phone number only? We cannot verify a phone number by email, so we never delete an account on a number alone. Install Welvite on any phone, sign in with that number (the SMS code proves it is yours) and use Method 1.

We verify the request, run the same deletion the app runs, and confirm by email, normally within 7 days and within 30 days at the outside. If we cannot match the address to an account we say so rather than guess.

What gets deleted

The deletion routine on our servers removes all of the following; the copy on your phone is wiped by the app in the same step:

DataWhere it is removed from
Every invitation: names, parents’ and hosts’ lines, wording in every language, event titles, dates, times, venues, addresses, map links, notes, template and music choiceOur database + your phone
Every published page: the HTML page, its calendar file and its preview image on the content network. The link answers HTTP 410 from then onCloudflare (pages and files)
Your photos: the cover and gallery images you pickedOur storage + the content network + your phone
Guest replies and guest lists: every name, answer, head count and personalised-link list on your invitationsOur database
Page addresses (the short link of each page) so they can never show anything againOur database
Your profile: display name, email, language, the date you accepted the Terms, and your notification tokensOur database (the phone also drops its notification token)
Account state: how many AI writing tries you used and any moderation flag on the accountOur database
Your sign-in account itself (your Google, phone number or email sign-in)Firebase Authentication

What is retained, and why

A few records stay. We would rather say so plainly than let you discover it:

  • Google Play purchase records. Google is the seller of every level and keeps its own billing and tax record of the transaction, including your payment method. We never had access to it and cannot delete it. Direct requests about that data to Google Play support.
  • Our purchase verification record, without your account. For each level bought we keep the Google purchase token, product and verification date so that a refund or chargeback notice from Google Play can still be matched later. On deletion we replace your account id with the word “deleted” and remove the link to the invitation; the record then identifies no one.
  • Abuse reports, without your account. Reports you filed, and reports others filed about your pages, are kept to prevent abuse; your account id is replaced with “deleted”.
  • Crash reports. Crash records from release builds carry no invitation content and no account id; they expire on Firebase Crashlytics’ own schedule (up to 90 days).
  • Cached copies at the edge. The content network may serve a cached copy of a page for up to a few minutes after deletion while the removal notice replaces it.

We may also retain a minimal record of the deletion itself (that an account was deleted, and when) where a legal obligation requires us to show it. It contains no invitation content.

If you are a guest, not a host

Guests do not have accounts. When you reply to an invitation, the page stores your name, your answer, how many of you are coming and which functions you chose, together with a one-way hash of your network address that only prevents duplicate and flood replies. All of it is deleted when the host deletes the page or when the page expires (one year after the last function).

To have your reply removed earlier, ask the host (the names are theirs to manage), or email support@welvite.com with the subject Guest reply removal, the page link and the name you replied with.
